Deciding my new reads
I have started following recommendations/references of authors in their novels that I read.
I just completed reading Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop. It ignited my interest to read other works of other authors on the need to work and how society gsuges success. I felt a connect with one of the characters and decided to give such cross referenced novels a try!
When I complete any book, I effortlessly look for related themes and books to revisit the flood of emotions and feelings that took an upheaval while reading that novel and revisit those moments. That said, I have read all the books in series of Before the coffee gets cold and presently, waiting for the release of english version of the 6th book- Before I knew I loved you.
Upon reading a novel, I tend to develop a respect for the writer and this feeling constantly pushes my mind to read their other works. First time, it happened with my inclination for Yuval Noah Harari (I still want him to write more books). I got to know about Sapiens, since it turned out to be the talk of the town, so I read it partly because it revolved around anthropology. Then, I proceeded to read hus other novels- Homo Deus, 21 problems of 21st century and the latest release- Nexus.
I definitely not miss any of the reads suggested by my very special person. I read Village by the Sea, it happened to unlock the feeling of looking beyond your own worries as everyone out there has a story to share. Similar themes I found in One Amazing Thing.
Through reading, I could discover my flaws and the way I am towards certain scenarios. Beak Sehee's works really helped me find this out and make the pending amends in my relationship and friendship. It finally lifted out the weight that was self imposed. There can't be sudden change in my personality at this age, but atleast I know the 'why' behind my doings.
My last month reads revolved around Satoshi Yagisawa works. More days at Morisaki bookshop deeply touched me, even the story didn't overlap with my life but there was a hidden connect and a message learnt- We tend to forget memories of loved ones, but their impression always brings some feelings that must be cherished.
I keep my reading hovering from dystopia to light reads to heavy philosophy. Now, it feels like Everyday I am Reading and it's satisfying.
